I initially discovered Gilliam Bell Moser during an Elon University career fair at the start of my sophomore year of college.  Nearly 30 accounting and finance firms of all sizes were in attendance, but GBM stood out and made the best impression on me.  The staff members representing GBM showed unmatched enthusiasm and took a different recruiting approach.  Some firms only cared whether you were a junior or senior, but GBM was more interested in each individual person.  After independently researching the firm and a virtual informational interview, I felt confident that GBM was an excellent place for me to work and gain relevant accounting knowledge and experience.

These feelings were confirmed when I had my in-person interview for my tax internship.  Instead of a strict interview with just one person, the process started with an office tour.  I had the ability to meet most of the people who were in the office that afternoon, and these interactions, albeit short, helped cement the fact that GBM cares about creating an office culture of inclusion with connections to all levels of firm leadership.  Everyone showed sincere interest in who I was and why I was interested in joining the firm.  The interview itself was enjoyable.  GBM wanted to know more about my character traits and passion for accounting, and this emphasis is shown by all staff members who truly love their jobs and enjoy the office comradery.

Working at GBM has so many benefits, but the best, aside from the people, is the variety of experiences that I have been given.  As an intern, GBM provided me with relevant work experience rather than just delegating menial tasks.  I had the opportunity to work on reasonably complex individual income tax returns, partnerships, trusts, and my personal favorite, gift tax returns.  GBM has given me the building blocks for success, including helpful trainings and a question-friendly work environment.  When I was presented with a full-time offer, I was ecstatic to join the team.  I look forward to each day that I spend in the office because there is always something new and exciting!  Now that I am a full-time employee, I am so grateful for the support that I receive at GBM.  I hope to provide that same level of help and encouragement to future interns and new hires in the coming years!
